A Saudi heritage enthusiast spent more than two decades collecting rare antiques and historical artifacts, establishing a private museum in Al-Jumum Governorate, west of Saudi Arabia, an area known for its rich cultural and historical heritage.
Majed Al-Sahli, founder of the Al-Jumum Museum, explained that he dedicated over 23 years to acquiring heritage items from relatives, friends, and auctions held across different regions of the Kingdom. His collection focuses on artifacts that reflect the history and culture of his region, and today includes more than 1,500 items such as traditional clothing, agricultural tools, hunting equipment, vintage vehicles, pottery, leather goods, copperware, books, and many other objects once used in everyday life.
According to Al-Sahli, some pieces in the museum are estimated by specialists to be more than 2,000 years old, while others date back over 150 years. He also noted that certain rare items in the collection were acquired for amounts exceeding SAR 100,000.
Among the museum’s most remarkable exhibits is a fossilized shell discovered in Wadi Fatimah Dam. During a visit by a Japanese delegation accompanied by an archaeologist, the artifact’s historical significance was confirmed, with experts estimating its age to be more than 2,000 years old.
Guests arrive at the museum and are welcomed with the venue’s signature drink, followed by a brief introduction from the guide about the site and the experience ahead.
A short orientation with the guide explaining the museum’s concept and giving an overview of what visitors will explore.
Time allocated for relaxation, where children can enjoy available activities, while guests may have lunch, sit in designated areas, or enjoy the surrounding atmosphere.
A final recap with the guide or interpreter, sharing additional insights about the museum and its collection, followed by heading to transportation for departure.
