Among the mountains and valleys of Makkah, the story of Al-Anwar Hamed Al-Mutairi begins. a woman from the Hejaz region and the founder of the first museum in Makkah dedicated to showcasing the history of families in the Hejaz. The museum is known as “Dar Al-Awwaleen Museum.”
Al-Mutairi grew up in Makkah, and in an interview with CNN Arabic, she described her childhood as simple and peaceful, saying: “I had a very calm and modest childhood. My mother taught me handicrafts, sewing, embroidery, and different stitching techniques.” She also explained that she worked in education for around 25 years and developed a deep passion for Saudi heritage, especially the culture of the Hejaz region.
She noted that a turning point in her life came when she was 11 years old, when she began collecting old coins, followed later by paper currency that was known at the time as “Hajj certificates.”
Guests arrive at the museum and are welcomed with the venue’s signature drink, followed by a brief introduction from the guide about the site and the experience ahead.
A short orientation with the guide explaining the museum’s concept and giving an overview of what visitors will explore.
Time allocated for relaxation, where children can enjoy available activities, while guests may have lunch, sit in designated areas, or enjoy the surrounding atmosphere.
A final recap with the guide or interpreter, sharing additional insights about the museum and its collection, followed by heading to transportation for departure.
